Avijit Chatterjee is a faculty member at Roopkala Kendro—where he has been teaching since 2006. With more then two decades of experience, he mentors students in 2D animation filmmaking, illustration, cartooning, Layout,Character Desigen and visual storytelling. He has also served as a moderator, paper setter, and external expert for various academic programs and orientation courses at government institutions and otherorganisation.

Avijit holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (2001) from the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, affiliated with Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He later pursued a Diploma in Animation Film Making from Heart Animation Academy, Hyderabad.

As a practicing artist and filmmaker, Avijit has directed several animated short films and worked on a range of animation projects. He has actively participated in numerous art workshops both in India and abroad, and his paintings have been featured in group exhibitions at national and international levels.

Avijit was born on July 7, 1977, in Berhampore, West Bengal.
