Educational Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Cinema “Sound Recording & Sound Engineering” — Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune
  • M.Sc. in Physics — Kanpur University.

Experience:

Thirty years of professional and academic experience.

After passing out from Film and Television Institute , Pune, Abhijit Acharyya began his professional career as sound mixing Engineer in a reputed studio, Sunny Super Sound, Mumbai.. He mixed numerous popular songs of Hindi feature films. He worked with esteemed music directors, such as Jatin Lalit, Adesh Srivastava, Nadeem Shravan, Anu Malik and Anand Milind to name a few. He also contributed to the sound design for many feature films namely Barsat (1995), Border, Himalaya Putra etc.

Then he joined National Film Development Corporation, Kolkata, as Sound Recordist, where he worked extensively in the films of Tollygunje film industry. He also worked with legendary film directors such as Late Sri Tarun Majumdar ( Aranyer Adhikar, Alo), Late Sri Tapan Sinha ( Ajob Gayer Ajob Kotha), Late Sri Basu Chatterjee ( Tok Jhal Misti), Sri Raja Sen ( Atmiyo Swajan)

He also worked on documentary films produced by the Films Division and various other filmmakers. Additionally, he was responsible for the digital editing setup at the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

Presently, he teaches as a faculty member in the Sound Design Department. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he also acts as the Course Coordinator, overseeing coordination between four departments of the Combined Group .
